 Posada de Montaña, English owned-10 minutes from Alajuela centre and 12 from Juan Santa Maria Intern'l. airport, is a traditional Costa Rican country house -bed and breakfast inn offering tranquil and restful hospitality in a lovely tropical environment-located on a no-through lane with minimal traffic.The setting is rural,with mountain views in 3 directions and lush gardens all around.The property is on the Western slopes of the central valley so we enjoy almost permanent cooling breezes and ,always,cool comfortable nights.
All of the rooms have been remodelled and have new beds with orthopaedic mattresses,comfy rugs and reading lights so you are guaranteed a cosy night.Bedroom 1 has direct access to the 2nd floor verandah where breakfast can be taken with the best view from the hostel-right across the valley.The gardens feature dining areas on grassy spaces among the groves of avocado,mango,kas,lemon and banana trees where hammocks can also be found for lazing away the odd hour.
Breakfast will be as you request and the kitchen stocks the best and freshest wholesome ingredients incl. home made bread and country produce.Dinners can be arranged to special order and the house always stocks beers and wines along with soft drinks, tea and gourmet coffee.
 Activities available are chauffered visits to coffee plantations,which can feature guided strolls in stunning mountain scenery,Poas volcano,waterfalls and gardens,river-side picnics on private property,tours to Arenal with volcano and thermal springs for bathing,beach locations,cloud forest and forest canopy,local zoo,aquatic park/lido with 3 out door pools in verdant setting,pony trekking,national parks,river kayaking and national parks.
Alajuela has all types of cycle and vehicle hire,a great central park next to the cathedral,a busy central market with everything you could wish to find,international mall with cinema ,casino with floor show and dancing,and a host of restaurants,bars,cafes,pizza places and even a soccer stadium which hosts games between the best Tico teams.The weekend sees the huge farmers market where I would be happy to bring you-see local life,buy and eat real food and enjoy the buzz.
